Fresh Herbs, What Are They Good For?

Although not scientifically proven, there has been some research that some of our favorite herbs might have some good health benefits. Please check with your medical providers before taking or using an excess of any herbs because some might cause a reaction to your medication.

On top of serving up some major flavor, the following ten fresh herbs pack some pretty serious health benefits…

Rosemary

Boosts brain power and cognitive function.

Sage

High in antioxidants, it helps banish disease-causing free radicals.

Parsley

Helps prevent tumor formation and breast cancer.

Cilantro

A rich source of vitamin K, this herb strengthens bones and helps prevent the onset of bone diseases.

Cinnamon

Studies link this herb to reducing blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Peppermint

Relieves Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and aids digestion.

Cumin Seed

A powerful germ-fighting herb, cumin is linked to the prevention of stomach ulcers.

Oregano

Decreases joint inflammation and soothes arthritis pain.

Ginger

This fresh root will soothe nausea for pregnancy women, those prone to motion sickness and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Thyme

A rich source of iron, thyme prevents anemia—especially during pregnancy.
