8 Need to Know Facts About Indoor Tanning


2. UV Rays Are Just as Dangerous

The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays are a serious danger to your skin. You might think that using a tanning bed, sunlamp, or booth for a quick session to darken your skin is safer than spending time outside, but this isn’t the case. The UV rays used in tanning beds are just as dangerous as the sun’s rays, if not more so. This is because indoor tanning equipment uses a highly concentrated amount of UV, which is the reason you tan so quickly in a short amount of time after exposure in a tanning bed.

If you’re finally willing to skip indoor tanning, spend more time outside, and slowly build your tan, it’s smart and makes sense to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Both tanning beds and the sun can cause irreparable damage. And remember, you can still get a tan when wearing sunscreen and even if you might prefer to get a darker tan quickly, sunscreen will allow you to do it much more safely.
