Oral Health

Maintaining good oral hygiene is a vital part of regular self-care, as it helps maintain the strength and viability of the teeth and gums. Dentists recommend flossing the teeth at least once per day, and brushing at least two to three times per day, particularly after meals. Mouthwash and interdental brushes can also be used to help control plaque and kill bacteria in the mouth. In addition to protecting the teeth and gums, there is mounting evidence that good oral hygiene can lower the risk of heart disease and certain neurological conditions, as researchers surmise that high levels of bacteria in the mouth can eventually become systemic.
