Acne

Also known as “pimples,” acne is a skin condition characterized by blemishes and reddish, black or white bumps. Believed to result from clogged skin pores, acne primarily affects adolescents and young adults and is mainly seen in facial pores, though the condition can occur in people of just about any age and in all regions of the body. Numerous factors are believed to contribute to the formation of pimples, including hormones, stress and the use of certain medications or cosmetics. Some people also develop what is known as “occupational acne,” resulting from exposure to certain industrial products which clog the exposed pores of the face and neck.
